We know that Widex and Sivantos announced their agreement on merge On May 16.  In fact, the merger and acquisition happen a lot in hearing healthcare industry. Since the 1990s, it had never been stopped.

1999

2000

  • Starkey Laboratories purchases Micro-Tech.

  • WDH purchases AVADA.

2001

  • Phonak purchases Hansaton.

2002

  • Amplifon purchases Sonus (1300 offices)

2003

  • Amplifon purchases National Hearing Centers (54 offices).

2005

  • GN purchases Interton.

2006

  • Sonova announces purchase of GN ReSound, but pulls out of deal in 2007 after being blocked by German anti-trust court (a ruling that was reversed in 2010).

2007

  • ON Semiconductor purchases AMI Semiconductor.

2010

  • WDH purchases ListenUp!

2011

  • HearUSA locks horns over payments to, and is eventually purchased by, Siemens.

2015

  • Sonova group integrates Hansaton.

2016

  • Sonova purchases AudioNova (Europe’s 2nd largest HA retailer).

2017

  • IntriCon purchases Hearing Help Express.

2018

  • Sivantos purchases TruHearing.
